Jocelyn Maughan, an esteemed Australian artist, excels in portrait, landscape, and figure painting. With a career spanning over six decades, Maughan's artistic journey began at the National Art School in Sydney, where she graduated with honours in Fine Arts painting.
As a former Senior I lead and founder of the School of Fine Art at Meadowbank TAFE, Maughan played a crucial role in nurturing aspiring artists and emphasizing draughtsmanship and the human form.
Maughan's artistic achievements include notable awards such as the Portia Geach Memorial Award, the Margaret Fesq Award, and the Le Gay Brereton Prize for Drawing. Her work is housed in private and municipal collections, including institutions like the Reserve Bank of Australia and the Mitchell Library, Sydney.
An active member of the Australian Watercolour Institute and the Royal Art Society, Maughan co-directs the Patonga Bakehouse Gallery on the Central Coast of New South Wales.
In recognition of her contributions to the visual arts and education, Maughan was honored with the Order of Australia Medal in 2018, highlighting her enduring legacy as both an artist and a teacher.
