George Sobierajski

George Sobierajski is a self-taught Australian artist based in Nowra on the NSW South Coast, who has been painting for over fifty years. He is known for vibrant landscapes, seascapes and wildlife subjects, with a particular interest in native Australian animals.

Sobierajski was an influential figure in the local Nowra art community and is noted as an early mentor to internationally recognised street artist Smug (Owen Dippie), who paid tribute to him with a large-scale mural portrait in Nowra. His work is characterised by bold colour and an energetic approach to the Australian coastal and bush environment.
