George Largent, an esteemed Australian postwar & contemporary artist, was born in Hertfordshire, England, in 1940 and has been an Australian resident since 1948. His artistic journey began at the National Art School in East Sydney, where he studied from 1956 to 1960, becoming an exhibiting member of the Contemporary Art Society of Australia at just sixteen, earning the distinction of being their youngest elected member.

George ventured into the world of commercial art, working in London and New York between 1963 and 1965. Returning to Sydney, he founded his own successful advertising agency, which thrived for sixteen years. In 1984, George sold his agency to pursue his true passion, painting.

Since 1982, George has consistently exhibited his artwork both nationally and internationally, leaving an indelible mark in galleries across Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, San Diego, California, and Chicago, Illinois. His impressive list of accolades includes winning numerous art prizes, and his works can be found in private and corporate collections worldwide, including notable names like IBM, Qantas, and Merk & Co.

A Fellow of the Royal Art Society and an Exhibiting member of the Australian Watercolour Institute, George Largent is celebrated for his contemporary watercolor artistry, a testament to his remarkable control over this medium and his deep connection to the Australian landscape.
