Margot Gough is an accomplished artist who studied at the Julian Ashton Art School in the early 1970s, where she was taught by prominent figures such as Dick and Philip Ashton, Ian Chapman, and Peter Dorahy. Her artistic practice spans both oil and watercolour mediums, though in recent years she has developed a particular passion for watercolour. She enjoys the freedom it offers, which has led to the success of her large-scale still-life works. Margot’s paintings cover a wide range of traditional subjects, but she has a special affinity for depicting figures in landscapes, often with water as a central theme. Influenced by the Impressionists, her style carries a romanticized touch. Margot’s work is highly recognized, and she is an active member of the Kuringai Art Society.
