New South Wales artist John Hansen was active in the 1980-1990s and produced many oils then on common Australian landscape themes of bush and land. He has also produced a number of strongly realised marine paintings of sailing ships. His works show a fine colour balance and awareness of light that many bush travellers out west will recognise. There is an engaging combination of hard glare, reposeful shade and human habitations.
