Wykeham Perry, born in 1976, made a bold move in his youth, leaving a secure government job to pursue his passion for painting. Growing up near Marysville-Buxton Road, Perry displayed early talent in capturing local scenes, evident in a watercolor he painted at age 11 or 12. Despite his self-taught background, he honed his skills by studying the works of renowned artists like Sir Arthur Streeton. Perry's artistic journey flourished with his ability to depict the Australian landscape reminiscent of the Heidelberg School's style.
Throughout his career, Perry remained captivated by the beauty of the Murrindindi area, finding endless inspiration in its diverse landscapes. His repertoire includes scenes from the Cathedral Range, beaches, gardens, cityscapes, and classic Australian imagery. Despite his success, Perry remained humble, expressing his love for painting and the endless allure of the Australian landscape.
