Eris Fleming, a distinguished Australian artist, was born in Inverell in 1943, the fifth of nine boys, setting the stage for a life of creativity and adventure. His early years were dedicated to a different path as he pursued a degree in Medicine at Sydney University, which he successfully completed in 1966. For the next six years, he practiced medicine.

In 1972, Eris made a remarkable shift, transitioning from the medical profession to embark on a full-time career as an artist. This bold move ignited a new chapter in his life, and his artistic journey began to flourish.

Over the years, his artistic prowess has been showcased in exhibitions across major cities in Australia. His paintings have found homes in various parts of the world, including Japan, England, America, France, and Switzerland. Eris Fleming's work primarily revolves around the rugged landscapes of the Australian outback and the captivating lives of those who dwell on its fringes.

To capture the essence of these landscapes and people, Eris has embarked on numerous camping trips, documenting his experiences in sketchbooks. These sketches serve as the foundation for his remarkable artworks, which are predominantly created using oils on canvas or personally prepared panels.

Since 1975, Eris has called Bakers Swamp home, sharing the picturesque surroundings with his wife Judith Ann. Despite his rural retreat, his influence extends well beyond Central NSW, making him a respected figure in the Australian art scene, celebrated for his evocative portrayal of the outback and its enigmatic inhabitants.
