Werner Filipich (1943-) migrated from Austria in 1950. Mostly self-taught, Werner had a sucessfull career in trading hair-dressing products before he became a professional painter in the early 1970s. Has exhibited widely and was winner in 2021 of the Sydney Combined Art Societies first prize in the small painting category. He is a Fellow of The Royal Art Society. Werner’s favoured subjects are Australian coastal and country village scenes. He makes sparing use of a wide pallette of colours with clear, distinct lines.
