Oil painter Michael John Taylor (1950-), also known as M. Colin Taylor, paints richly detailed realist Australian landscapes. He is not to be confused with the Expressionist artist Michael Taylor (1933-). He was born in Tasmania but has lived most of his life in Sydney. His works are held in several corporate collections. One of his paintings was presented by the Sydney Lord mayor to the Duke of Kent.

Michael Taylor landscape painting - Flinders in September
$150.00

This painting uses loose, expressive brushstrokes and a mix of earthy and soft colors to create a lively landscape. The style leans towards impressionism, focusing on movement and texture rather than fine details. The scene shows grassy land in shades of green and brown, leading to trees with rough, layered brushwork. In the background, a hazy mountain range rises in soft blues and purples, giving depth to the view. Children are depicted but almost invisible compared to their surroundings. Above, a bright sky stretches across the canvas, with birds flying. A gold frame surrounds the painting, giving it a traditional presentation. The artist’s signature is visible on the canvas.

Dimensions = 31 × 26cm (frame)
