Norman Robins, born in Germany in 1914, migrated to the UK in 1939 and served in the British Army. After the war, he worked as a commercial artist in London before moving to Australia in 1955. It was in Australia that Robins began painting professionally, focusing on traditional landscapes in oils. He exhibited his works in Melbourne and Sydney, gaining wide recognition for his individualistic style. Robins' paintings, characterised by a heavy impasto technique, reflect his European heritage and are often reminiscent of German Romantic painting. His distinctive approach set him apart in the Australian art scene until his death in 1988.

Kevin Oxley OAM (1941–2016) was a distinguished Australian artist, born in Hay, NSW. A self-taught painter, sculptor, and printmaker, Oxley began his professional art career in 1967 and worked across a variety of media, including oils, acrylics, metal, ceramics, and wood. His self-portrait was a finalist in the Archibald Prize, and he painted notable figures such as Sir Phillip Baxter and Premier Jack Lang. Oxley also served as Director of the Tweed Regional Gallery and coordinated the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize. In 2014, he received the Order of Australia Medal for his contributions to the arts. His works are held in numerous collections, including the Sydney Opera House and Parliament House. Oxley believed that a well-painted portrait, reflecting hours of interaction, transcended the moment captured by a photograph, offering a deep, nuanced depiction of the subject's life.

Condition - Generally good but potential buyers should be aware that there is a small scratch near top left of image and about 10cm above the house. This should not detract overly from the painting once hung
