Neil Savage (1929-2000) was a self-taught artist born in Victoria, Australia. Known for his impressionist style, Savage primarily worked with acrylics, creating a body of work that reflects a distinctly Australian aesthetic. In the early 1970s, he moved to Eildon, Victoria, where he became a popular figure. Besides painting, Savage was a talented poet and writer, known for his witty verse, though this aspect of his creativity was less widely recognised.

Neil Savage operated his own galleries in Victoria, personally marketing and selling his artwork. Later, he and his wife Faye ran the Greenhouse Gallery at Soldiers Point in Port Stephens, alongside their talented artist daughter, Christine Savage. Neil’s work enjoyed significant popularity, often compared to renowned Australian artists like Pro Hart. After Neil’s passing, Christine Savage has continued his artistic legacy, maintaining the unique style that made her father’s work known.
